I feel like I knew this little newborn before he was even born.  I first met Kirsten and Wade at their cousin’s wedding – a very fun wedding 🙂 and next heard from them when they were pregnant with little Noah.  We met at Burnaby Beach to capture Kirsten’s maternity pictures and she was just glowing.  It is amazing how pregnancy just adds a certain glow to women.  Kirsten is already a stunner but just extra gorgeous with a pregnancy glow.  A few weeks later, Noah made his appearance and I was super excited to meet this little baby.  Kirsten was worried that he would rebel and not sleep through his newborn session, but he was a total star.  He had his bottle and then settled in to a nice floppy sleep.  We were able to get many beautiful pictures of this beautiful guy.  I love photographing this stage, it is so special.   To capture their little fingers, toes and expressions.  They are still so squishy and moldable <3  Wade is a big fisher so we set up a little picture with a fishing net and rod – super cute!  Knowing that parents can look back on these newborn images and be reminded of the squishiness and tiny features of their children is so fantastic.  What a treasure.  It even means a lot to that baby to grow up and see the portraits of them.  My kids love looking at their baby pictures and are often struck with wonder at how much they grown and changed.  I think they really feel the value and love in these images.  My daughter, Isla often gets a bit teary at how “little and cute” she was (in my books still is ;))  Pictures are our history, our memories and our love.  Start with the freshness of your newborn, you will never regret it.

Baby photographer – Madeline

Vancouver Baby Photographer

I met little baby Madeline last week and fell in love with her right away.  She was a bit older then the newborns I usually photograph, almost a month old and just had the best expressions.  So so sweet.  Madeline even smiled at her Mama while I was there – between yawns of course 🙂  Obviously both Mom and Dad are already so smitten and I think Dad is totally wrapped around her little finger….The only family member who may not be so keen is their dog…poor guy – but I’m sure he’ll come around once she starts dropping food off her high chair 😉

I really enjoyed this session….it was really neat capturing all her little expressions and personality.  She is going to be a heartbreaker for sure – check out those eyes!

Nathan is the cutest 5 month old – I just wanted to squeeze his gorgeous chubby cheeks.  I just love capturing the sweet smiles and expressions at this fun age and Nathan did not disappoint.  He really was the most chill baby, happy to look at me or Mom and just stay where we put him (of course in the beautiful light in the kitchen;)).  I photographed him in a few different spots in his house, anywhere from the living room to the kitchen floor, but my favourite was in his crib.  He was so excited to be in there that he was bouncing around or looking totally startled.  It gave me  a good laugh and one of my favourite images.  We finished the mini session outside in his yard and he held up like a champ for a few more images.  The cool guy was exhausted from being a model and let me know by totally ignoring me. haha!  No fuss, no tears, just the blank stare of an expert communicator 🙂

Thanks for having me and making my photography job so awesome!

Maternity Pictures

Maternity Session in North Vancouver

I first met Kim a few years ago when she came to me for a few photography lessons – she wanted to be able to capture pictures her kids as they grow up.  I can see why – they are just the cutest little humans ever.  This is the second session I have had with them now and both have been super fun. The first we shot down at Ambleside on the beach almost exactly a year ago and had a great adventure.  This time we decided to meet at a more secluded spot that offered pretty flowers and wide open fields.  It was a great place to shoot, very simple and very pretty.  When I mentioned lupins, Kim was right in, she loves the colour purple and there certainly is no lack of purple flowers 🙂  Kim is due in about 2 weeks, so time was of the essence to get her maternity shoot done.  She looks so amazing, especially for how close she is to her due date!  2 weeks out for me meant I was a bloated mess with both of my kids….I am actually quite jealous of these Mommas who look so amazing during their pregnancy 😉  Anyways, we had a great shoot and Justin was the hero of the shoot.  He was such an amazing sport and so happy to do whatever I wanted to suggest.  Their great attitude made for some special images.  I hope you all enjoy them and thanks for checking them out.
