Ambleside Family Session

Ambleside Family Session

F A M I L Y;

What a blessing it is to have the opportunity to photograph such a beautiful family and to capture their love and support on camera. This session was all about stealing those sacred, effortless moments of pure happiness and connectedness with each other.

Creating M E M O R I E S;

Running around Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver on a chilly Fall day, chasing the pup, exploring & looking for new fun spots. Camera in hand searching for that “moment”, I chased after Dylan, Robin and Teagan, who chased after Buddy. We explored, we played, we ran and we posed and this family made it SO easy! They were naturals in front of the camera. It might have helped that the kids were able to skip a few hours of school to score some great family shots! (Thanks mom!)

The air was crisp and the sun was setting, the perfect backdrop to capture those sweet family moments. Standing behind the camera really gave me a handle on the family in their element. These opportunities will evoke memories for all of us! How special is it that they have a collection of photos from such a special time in their lives. Time moves so fast and it is comforting knowing you can press the pause button on life to reflect on this day.

G R A T E F U L;

I was so fortunate to meet the Savages. They actually missed booking into a “mini session marathon” at Highlands Elementary that I had in North Vancouver a few months ago. Rather than miss out entirely, they took it upon themselves to book a session with me on another date. There is something special about this family; I love that they ordered prints and already have them hanging on their walls. It happens all too often that digital files are stored on the computer and forgotten about. Moments like this should be displayed and enjoyed!

It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with you all. Thank you for trusting in me to be your family photographer! I had a blast!

Iceland | Travelling Photographer

Travelling to Iceland

I think it must be every photographer’s dream to be able to travel for work.   This last year, I have been lucky enough to be sent to many fun places to capture beautiful images for my clients.  My most recent and favourite is Iceland.  Travelling to Iceland to capture it’s beauty was unbelievable for me.  Iceland is so amazingly gorgeous.  Everywhere you look there is beauty.  The landscape is so diverse and different from anything I have ever experienced.   If it is on your list, get there….and if it is not on your list, it should be.  I took so many pictures and love everyone of them.  I would love to go back and shoot again in the summer; I was there in the winterish spring.  You can visit huge waterfalls, stunning cliffs falling into the ocean, lava fields, ponies (Icelandic horses) and glaciers and so many more jaw dropping views.  I’ve complied a tiny fraction of my favourite images from this trip to share.  Each picture means something to me.  An experience, or a feeling or just plain appreciation at what I was seeing and having the ability to capture it with my camera and share it.  Being a travelling photographer is something I am so grateful for.  Every job I have here and away give me so much happiness and remind me of how lucky I am to call myself a photographer.

Thanks for checking out my images 🙂

I met these three the other day to capture some pictures for a surprise for their Mom’s (and wife’s) birthday present.  I love love love this idea.  What Mom, or parent really, doesn’t want pictures of her loved ones?  Having a tangible memory of their smiles and who they were at this moment in life in so special.  Pictures that she can frame and have on her desk, so when she looks up from her work she can see who she is working for.  Who is being affected by the hours she puts in away from them.  She can see these pictures and feel their love and smile a bit at their smiles.  This gift is so priceless; anyone with a loved one would appreciate it.  Images are like music, they can bring you back to a moment when you can smell, hear and see that experience or time in your life again; this implicit memory of your kids love and also of their personalities.

We met at Jericho Beach in Vancouver to get these shots and right away I was struck by the politeness of these two kids.  Wow!  Gotta love good manners 🙂  Having said that, it took about 2 minutes for them to get comfortable and show me their goofy sides.  They were full of great ideas for pictures but also for fun 🙂  It had rained (torrentially) all day but cleared up for us in true Vancouver fashion.  We had wicked cool skies and great colours for our session.  We shot everywhere from the dock, the beach and the parking lot. True story – only way to get those short lived cherry blossoms in the shots 🙂

I had a fantastic time with there three, they were super easy going and fun.  I’m sure their Mom (wife) will be blown away by this special gift.  Thanks for trusting me to capture them.

West Vancouver Family Photographer | Lighthouse Park

photocrati galleryFamily Photos at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver

This super fun photo shoot was a long time in the making!  I first met Heather when I took pictures of her little guy (now the oldest) at Gymboree.  Jackson had the the cutest little face with the best wrinkle face smile, perfect for pictures 🙂  Our next shoot was in Deep Cove on a gorgeous sunny day and with us were 5!  Added to the bunch were Lucy and baby Noah.  Move to our most recent photo session, and now there are 6!  The newest little bundle is Anna.  Perfect, smily little Anna 🙂  Originally we were going to do a newborn shoot with her but ended up changing it to a family shoot at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver.  We had such a fun time exploring through the forest and racing down the trails…those kids are fast!  We took pictures all around the forest and then down on the waterfront playing on the huge rocks.  It is such pretty place to shoot and the Patchell family were the perfect family to capture.  I love all the sweet smiles they gave me and the big grins too.  Lucy and I had fun looking for fairies and Jackson was the lead billy coat on all the rock faces.  When we finished shooting on the rocks, we headed back up the trail..clearly all that hiking was exhausting for Anna as she conked out on the way out.  One of my favourite shots is her sleeping in Heather’s arms.  I had a great time shooting this family and can’t wait to do it again…..maybe with baby 5?  😉
