Mothers & Daughters

M O T H E R S

I had the pleasure to shoot this gorgeous mother-daughter duo at Queen Elizabeth Park. It was the perfect setting and they were dressed to match! I love shooting at this time of day, the warm sunlight filtering through bright green trees on a spring afternoon. Finding the perfect location sets the mood for the shoot, and did we ever have it. The mother daughter bond, the sweet dresses, the quiet location, it all worked together so well!

The mother-child connection is something you can’t just expect or ask for, it is a natural phenomenon that we are so blessed to be apart of. That bond is so rare and special, and these two depicted it perfectly! They were so comfortable with each other, and clearly the best of friends. It was such a playful experience to photograph their relationship – the games, the handholding, kisses & cuddles.

Moms are a child’s FIRST best friend. How lucky are we?!

ALL ABOUT  Y O U

It’s all too often that the moms get stuck behind the camera, capturing all of the special moments and not be able to partake in the fun. I love sharing this time with moms, to allow them to be the ones on the other side of the camera for once. Not even to just be in the pictures, but to dedicate a time when it is JUST about the mothers and the kids. No expectations, no pressure, no “reason” for a photo, just a kid and their  mom “doing their thing”!

Mothers Day is just around the corner, so please contact me if you want to arrange something special with your little ones!

To all of my past and my future families, THANK YOU.

Baby Photographer North Vancouver

I met the sweetest little girl, Maelle.  She came to get her newborn baby pictures done and I think she is one of the most beautiful babies that I have photographed.  She has perfect creamy skin and sweet fluffy hair.  Thank you Maelle!  I loved photographing her in all the sweet little positions; she looked so precious and slept in all of them, making my job super easy.  Almost makes me want to have another…..almost 😉

The newborn stage is such a fun time to capture.  They change so quickly and it is so easy to forget how teeny tiny they were and how much they sleep…..mostly because it feels like they never sleep 😉  I make sure to document their little toes, their flaky skin, their puffy lips and perfect fingers.  Mom and Dad will cherish looking back and seeing how much their babies have grown and changed.

Maelle was a star to photograph, well on her way to a supermodel career 🙂

Family Pictures in North Vancouver

This is the 2nd time that I have photographed this gorgeous family but this time there was a new member of the family, a gorgeous little girl.  The first time we met, we went to Stanley Park in Vancouver to get their family pictures and it was a beautiful session.  This time we met at their house in North Vancouver in their equally gorgeous backyard.  Both kids are so cute and easy smilers ( given the awesome aunties behind me) and it was a fun session.

West Vancouver Child Photographer | Whytecliff

Being a child photographer is a pretty special job….one that I love.  There is this time in children’s lives that is fleeting and it is so important to capture.  The magic of being able to look back at images and feel the memories they invoke.  The memory of the way they smiled at that age, the way they loved inspecting flowers…and ate them too ;), their shy smile or gregarious giggles can be captured forever.  Forever!  How cool is that?  A child photographer has a big responsibility for sure…..yes you could go to a shoot and take pictures and likely the family will be pleased but you can be way cooler and connect with the family, see them and their love and then have the ability to show that back to them in a magical format that lasts forever.  What?!  It’s true….a print of a moment….a print of your love is priceless.

I met this new family in West Vancouver at Whytecliff park.  Their little guy is a special little soul – he has deep eyes and a beautiful smile.  He loved grabbing the little buttercups and smelling and tasting them – he has the best expressions – smiles and frowns.  His parents, Corey and Bree are clearly so in love and enamoured with him.  Obviously.  They’ll have to look back at these pictures when he crashed the car or talks back for the first time 😉  It was such a pleasure to hang out with these three for the afternoon and I feel so lucky that my job gives me opportunities like this.  Thanks guys for choosing me as your child photographer.  I am so honoured and appreciative.

I met these three the other day to capture some pictures for a surprise for their Mom’s (and wife’s) birthday present.  I love love love this idea.  What Mom, or parent really, doesn’t want pictures of her loved ones?  Having a tangible memory of their smiles and who they were at this moment in life in so special.  Pictures that she can frame and have on her desk, so when she looks up from her work she can see who she is working for.  Who is being affected by the hours she puts in away from them.  She can see these pictures and feel their love and smile a bit at their smiles.  This gift is so priceless; anyone with a loved one would appreciate it.  Images are like music, they can bring you back to a moment when you can smell, hear and see that experience or time in your life again; this implicit memory of your kids love and also of their personalities.

We met at Jericho Beach in Vancouver to get these shots and right away I was struck by the politeness of these two kids.  Wow!  Gotta love good manners 🙂  Having said that, it took about 2 minutes for them to get comfortable and show me their goofy sides.  They were full of great ideas for pictures but also for fun 🙂  It had rained (torrentially) all day but cleared up for us in true Vancouver fashion.  We had wicked cool skies and great colours for our session.  We shot everywhere from the dock, the beach and the parking lot. True story – only way to get those short lived cherry blossoms in the shots 🙂

I had a fantastic time with there three, they were super easy going and fun.  I’m sure their Mom (wife) will be blown away by this special gift.  Thanks for trusting me to capture them.
